Research

During his stay at CRASSH, Dr Islam will work on strategies and counterforces in environmental activism in Bangladesh. In his project, he aims to conduct a comparative study of two environmental movements in Bangladesh: one in 2006, a “success,” and the other in 2022, a “failure.” The project’s fundamental question is why certain movements succeed while others fail. This question will be examined by focusing on the strategies of environmental activists and the counterforces while gaining an understanding of the lessons learned from successes and failures.
