Ben Oppenheim is a Resident Fellow at Stanford University's Center on International Conflict and Negotiation, and a Senior Fellow and Visiting Scholar at New York University's Center on International Cooperation. His research focuses on transnational security challenges, public health, conflict and development, with research sites in Southeast Asia and East Africa. Several current projects explore the role of beliefs and information flows in unstable and conflict-affected areas, and he is particularly interested in rumors: why they spread, who they influence, and what impact they have. Oppenheim received his PhD and MA from the University of California at Berkeley, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and his BA from Wesleyan University's College of Social Studies.
