25 Jan 2024 17:00 - 19:00 Room SG1, Alison Richard Building, 7 West Road, Cambridge

Description

An event by the Ambivalent Archives research network.

Abstract

Sensing the archive asks us to focus differently in our archival encounters – what gets deemed ‘ information’? Where do we find ourselves or the bodily presence of others in these spaces sterility? If we look/listen/touch/feel differently which knowledges are we led to? These readings ask us to challenge our given approach to research and the world around us, asking why we react in the ways we do and what could be discovered if we look beyond what we’ve learned.

Readings (PDFs linked)

Approach to readings: reading sessions will typically have around 30-50 pages of critical reading. We realise this is a significant amount of preparation when academic workloads are only increasing; we, therefore, encourage you to read as much as you can, and we will range between all set readings in our sessions.
