Description

Closing event for the exhibition Permeable Spaces.

Alexandra Baraitser | Amanda Lwin | Andrew James | Clio Lloyd-Jacob | Louise Butler Adams | Melissa Pierce Murray | Stephanie Kingston | Tooney Phillips

To what extent do we internalise objects and walls as boundaries? How do these structure the narratives of our thought? What remains relevant if we shift our scale? How does the prevalence of large, reflective, glass and metal surfaces in contemporary buildings affect our perception of space and ourselves? What, in our surroundings, reflects our influence, and how do we cope when there seems to be nothing?

Reflecting on contemporary spaces, where multiple stimuli vie for attention or coexist in precarious balance, eight artists offer works of action and contemplation. Imaginatively inhabiting these artworks, the viewer is encouraged to construct their own narratives, and use them as territory for creative reverie.

Curated by Clio Lloyd-Jacob.
