Description

We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks is opening at the Arts Picturehouse cinema on Friday 12 July with a special screening event at 6.00pm with Professor John Naughton Director of the Conspiracy and Democracy Research Project at CRASSH giving an introductory talk.

Experienced documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney gives in this gripping film an in-depth portrayal of Wikileaks founder and arch hacktivist Julian Assange. Thanks to Gibney's forensic research and myriad interviews, which covers events such as the Icelandic financial collapse and the upload to Wikileaks of the Iraq and Afghanistan war documents, Assange appears as a complex individual driven as much by ego as by the desire to promote data transparency. Interview subjects also include Bradley Manning, James Ball, Donald Bostom, Nick Davies, Mark Davis, Jason Edwards, Michael Hayden, Adrian Lamo, J. William Leonard, Gavin MacFadyen, Smári McCarthy, Iain Overton, and Vaughan Smith. Online registration
