The University in the Face of a Pharmacology of the Mind

A lecture by the leading French philosopher, Bernard Stiegler, Director of the Department of Cultural Development at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

Bernard Stiegler, cultural development department director at the Centre Georges-Pompidou, is a philosopher and a doctor of École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). He was a program director at the Collège international de philosophie, a professor at the Université de Compiègne (UTC), a vice director at the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA), and a director at the Institut de recherché et de coordination acoustique/musique (IRCAM). His works include: La techique et le temps (Galilée, 1994-), De la Misère symbolique (Galilée, 2004-2005), Mécréance et discrédit (Galilée, 2004-), Aimer, s’aimer, nous aimer (Galilée, 2003), Constituer l’Europe (Galilée, 2005), Passer à l’acte (Galilée, 2003), Philosopher par accident (Galilée, 2004), and L’Échographie de la télévision (with Jacques Derrida, Galilée, 1996). He is also a co-founder of Ars Industrialis, an international association for the promotion of an industrial politics of spirit.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion and a reception.
