Convenor: David Lane (University of Cambridge)
This conference considers three aspects of the transformation of the former state socialist countries: forces in the transition; the outcomes of transition; the problems of consolidation of the new regimes; and alternative scenarios – the experience of state socialist countries that have not been replaced by a (at least formally) different economic and political system.
This conference has been organised with the support of CRASSH, the Leverhulme Foundation, the British Academy, the Centre for Latin American Studies and Emmanuel College in Cambridge.
