Description

Going Places with Zhuangzi

A talk by Haun Saussy

Friday 18 May 2007 at 5.15pm
Seminar Room, CRASSH, 17 Mill Lane, Cambridge

The foundational Daoist text Zhuangzi – in its imagining of impossible, superhuman, excessive experiences – has been reached for by many when trying to account for exotic things. Haun Saussy will trace this pattern through a few examples (drawn from Buddhism, Jesuit writings, French poetry) and propose some consequences for the theory of cultural appropriation.

There will be a wine reception after the talk. If you wish to attend this event please email events@crassh.cam.ac.uk.
