Evgenii Dobrenko (University of Sheffield)

Having worked at various universities in Russia, the USA and the UK, Professor Evegenii Dobrenko currently holds a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship (until 2010). He is the author of several internationally acclaimed books on Soviet culture (i.e. The Making of the State Reader: Social and Aesthetic Contexts of the Reception of Soviet Literature (1997), and The Making of the State Writer: Social and Aesthetic Origins of Soviet Literary Culture, (2001). His research interests include Soviet and post-Soviet literature and culture, Socialist Realism, Russian and Soviet film, critical theory and Soviet cultural history. His work has been translated into eight languages.

 

This event is part of the Contemporary Russian Culture Studies Group Seminar series.

Meetings are held on alternate Wednesdays during term-time, 5pm to 7.00pm at CRASSH.
