Artist Talk
Zach Blas (Lecturer in Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths, University of London)
Metric Mysticism is a lecture performance that looks at the appropriation of magic/mysticism rhetoric by data analytics companies. It is linked to a solo exhibition, ‘Contra-Internet,’ on view at Gasworks in London from September to December 2017. Zach Blas is an artist and theorist whose practice engages technology, queerness, and politics. Blas’s recent works respond to technological control, biometric governmentality, and network hegemony. He is Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he teaches modules including “The Arts of Surveillance”.
