Cambridge Digital Humanities (CDH) is delighted to announce that Professor Caroline Bassett has been appointed to the Professorship of Digital Humanities at the University of Cambridge with effect from 1 September 2019.
Professor Bassett is currently Professor of Media and Communications at the University of Sussex, as well as Director of the Sussex Humanities Lab. Her research is centred on investigating and critically analysing the relationship between communication technologies, cultures and societies.
Professor Bassett’s extensive publications include work on digital transformation, mobile and pervasive media, gender and technology, medium theory, digital humanities, science fiction, imagination and innovation, and sound and silence. Her current research is exploring anti-computing.
At Cambridge, Professor Bassett will lead Cambridge Digital Humanities, succeeding the inaugural director Professor John Rink. She will be a member of the Faculty of English and will work closely with the many institutions and individuals within the large CDH community.
