Yan Xu received her BA from Nanjing University in China, and her MA and PhD in Chinese History from The Ohio State University. She currently teaches as an Assistant Professor of Asian History at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Her research interests include Chinese military history and the Second Sino-Japanese War. Her first book, War Heroes: Constructing the Soldier and the State in Modern China, 1924-1945, is under contract with the University Press of Kentucky.
