18 Nov 2015 12:00pm - 2:00pm Seminar Room SG1, Alison Richard Building

Description

Aidan White (Ethical Journalism Network)
Brent Mittelstadt  (Oxford Internet Institute)
Lorna Woods (Essex)

In this seminar we will examine the place of ethics in thinking about big data, examining what happens to the ‘ethical’ as we shift scales, and exploring whether there is anything distinctive about the ethics of big data. The seminar will explore whether conventional frameworks for thinking about data ethics are appropriate for an era of big data, or whether there is a need to develop or expand them.
