Participants in this event will work with Dr Zoe Svendsen (Metis Arts and Faculty of English) and Dr Anne Alexander (CRASSH and Digital Humanities Network) to create a Digital Quilt for Metis’ new project, World Factory. Metis is working with Shanghai-based Chinese theatre director Zhao Chuan and his company Grass Stage to undertake the research and development for a series of performances in China and the UK.The Digital Quilt, a bilingual patchwork of historical and contemporary texts, images and videos, will help expose processes of textile production in 19th Century Manchester and China today, and act as a communication platform and research-sharing tool for international exchange and conversations between artists involved in the project.
