Monica Boria

Monica Boria is a convenor of the Cambridge Conversations in Translation Research Group at CRASSH. She completed her degree in Modern Languages in Italy (Macerata) and postgraduate studies in Britain (Birmingham). She has been teaching Italian language and culture (cinema) in UK universities and AE colleges since 1994, holding posts at Leicester University, Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge) and Nottingham Trent University. Her research interests lie in contemporary Italian cultural studies, humour studies and translation. She has published on writer Stefano Benni, comedian Sabina Guzzanti, TV parody and satire, and 70s underground comics. She has also co-edited volumes on Italian studies for Troubadour and CSP. She recently completed a postgraduate course in Translation at the University of Pisa and is also working as a free-lance translator.
