Postdoctoral Researcher Forum
The Postdoctoral Researcher Forum is a joint initiative of CRASSH and the Schools of Humanities & Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities to support the post doctoral community in Cambridge. The aim of the forum is to encourage interaction between researchers, to address some of their concerns through a series of targeted workshops and to provide a web resource to support the research interests and career development of members of the postdoctoral research community in Cambridge.

Postdoctoral Research Seminars
These seminars provide a space for postdocs in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to find new audiences for their work and share ideas across disciplinary boundaries. The seminars aim to create a supportive environment in which postdocs can critique each others’ work in progress, rather than acting as another venue for polished papers. If you are interested in presenting a paper, please contact Dr. Ildiko Csengei.
For more information and past presentations, please click here.
Career-related events
Some of these are jointly organised with the Careers Service. The Careers Service's own events for Postdocs and Researchers in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities can be found here (Raven log-in required), together with a lot of useful information and resources from previous events.
Click here for details of past events.
Of interest to postdocs might also be the Research Lunchtime Forum, run by Daniel Wunderlich, the School Research Facilitator.
Web resources
The Postdoc Forum provides dedicated webpages with links to a wide range of career-related resources for postdoctoral researchers, including information on funding opportunities, support for researchers, and mapping research careers.
In addition, each of the termly workshops organised by the Postdoc Forum during 2009-10 provides the theme for a series of webpages with useful resources for the Cambridge postdoc community. The Michaelmas 2009 workshop on 'Academic Careers and the recession' is the inspiration for a collection of career-related resources,
The Lent term 2010 workshop 'From Impact to Engagement' now has a page of links and resources covering the debates over measuring research impact, public engagement and working with the media.
In Easter term 2010 we discussed 'Who owns Research?', which now has its own page of information and links.
Discussion list
The Early Career Researchers Discussion mailing list is a forum for sharing news, events, seminars, job or training opportunities, with other members of the postdoc community in Cambridge. List members may post anything that might be of interest to other postdoc researchers in Cambridge. The list aims to create a sense of community across the postdoctoral research community in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Cambridge, so as to provide peer-support and advice on researcher development issues. Sign up to the list here.
