Conference Review
Evidence in the Courtroom: Possibilities and Challenges, Validity and Value
24 - 25 September 2007
Our aim was to facilitate discussion across a group pf academics looking at different forms of evidence and practitioners in the criminal justice area. We had 36 participants in the end - reflecting wide participation. The quality of the papers exceeded our expectations and the discussion highlighted a number of key challenges. The conference concluded with a suggestion that we ‘popularise’ some of the issues. Dr Mueller-Johnson and I intend to do this by writing a short article on the conference themes for use in professional journals (The Magistrate and The Police Review for example). We have also had preliminary discussion with Willan Publishing about a publication based on the conference.
