Faculty Research Groups
New funding opportunity for cross-disciplinary research groups from October 2011.
CRASSH is delighted to announce a new initiative to support cross-disciplinary research groups with the potential for collaborative grant applications. The aim of this new programme is to stimulate or consolidate faculty research initiatives in emerging fields.
Application 2012-13
Deadline: Wednesday 25 April 2012
Details of the programme
CRASSH offers administrative support, funding and a venue to up to fourteen groups (including Graduate Research) in any one year. Funding of up to £1500 per year, renewable for one year, will be available for relevant activities, as well as administrative assistance with events, publicity and budgets. Activities may include seminars, workshops, reading/discussion groups, short visits by guest speakers to Cambridge. The budget is allocated in consultation with CRASSH.
Eligibility
Lead applicants should be Cambridge faculty (CTOs/UTOs and postdoctoral researchers) from at least two different faculties/disciplines. Support will not normally be given to groups whose activities could be supported within a single Faculty.
How to apply
An application form can be downloaded here. Proposals should give an account of the interdisciplinary nature of the research project and its contribution to disciplinary development. In addition, applicants should provide information about previous activities (if any), plans for future activities with a preliminary budget outline, and evidence of an existing network/constituency across University departments. CRASSH is keen to support wide-ranging activities and to encourage new collaborative initiatives that reach across disciplinary boundaries, including those between the sciences and the humanities.
Interested applicants are invited to discuss their plans with Professor Simon Goldhill (sdg1001@cam.ac.uk) Director of CRASSH. Proposals should be accompanied by two letters of support from referees, at least one of whom should be from Cambridge. Applications should be sent to Esther Lamb (Graduate/Faculty Programme Manager) at CRASSH, Alison Richard Building, 7 West Road, CB3 9DT or by email by 25 April 2012.
Re-applying Groups
Groups coming to the end of their funded period are welcome to re-apply by completing the application form and submitting it, with their Yearly Report, by 25 April 2012.
