Alison Richard Building

At the beginning of 2012, CRASSH moved into the new Alison Richard Building at the West Road gateway to the University’s Sidgwick Site, the main base for humanities and social science teaching and research at Cambridge. The move provides not only in-house space for larger conferences, but also creates greater interaction with old and new constituencies. The Centre’s relocation puts CRASSH at the heart of a cosmopolitan building that houses the major regional studies centres and POLIS, the Department of Politics and International Studies. The regional studies centres include: Centre of African Studies, Centre of Latin American Studies, Centre of South Asian Studies and the Development Studies Committee.

We look forward to the intellectual synergies which will ensue with our neighbours and also to the opportunities afforded by state-of-the art facilities that will enable interaction both face-to-face and virtually. The move presents many opportunities to develop new programmes, initiatives and networks for 21st-century scholarship. As we move forwards in our second decade, we remain committed to fostering the dynamic of cross-disciplinary and international activity associated with today’s Cambridge. If you would like any information on supporting the growth and evolution of CRASSH's programmes and activities at the new Centre, please do get in touch with Professor Simon Goldhill. Support would enable CRASSH to consolidate its existing programmes and set ambitious objectives for its next decade in the Alison Richard Building.
