Revd Dr Jamie Hawkey (Cambridge)
Margaret Faultless (Cambridge)
Dr Bettina Varwig (King's College London)

A panel discussion exploring Bach's 'St Matthew Passion' from the perspective of performing bodies, both past and present, live and theoretical. It will consider how early-18th-century medical conceptions of the body enrich our understanding of Bach's musical rhetoric, theatricality and Lutheran liturgical performances, and the experience of playing this highly affective music on stage in the 21st century.

Open to all.  No registration required
