A briefing on the Research Excellence Framework organised organised by the CRASSH Postdoctoral Researcher Forum and the Careers Service for postdoctoral researchers in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. 

Abstract

The Research Excellence Framework is the new system for assessing the quality of research in UK Higher Education Institutions. It replaces the Research Assessment Exercise and is scheduled to be completed in 2014. More background information is available on the website of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce), which is overseeing the REF.

This briefing will cover:

  • How the REF will work
  • Cambridge University policies on REF submission
  • Advice from senior academic colleagues on preparing a personal publication strategy
