21 Nov 2011 12:00pm - 1:30pm English Faculty, West Road, G-R 06/07

Description

This event is jointly organised with the Careers Service. There will be a quick lunch at 12 pm, and the session will start at 12.30pm.

This briefing will provide information and advice for researchers in the arts, humanities, and social sciences who are intending to apply to the 2012 Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships Scheme.

Speakers:

  • Professor Jon Parry, Director of the Newton Trust
  • Adam Steenkamp, the Cambridge Research Office
  • Dr Jenna Ng, Early Career Fellow at CRASSH

Professor Parry will speak about the Newton Trust's role in providing matching funding for Cambridge applicants to the scheme, who will be selected through an internal competition closing in January 2012. The Cambridge Research Office will speak about the Leverhulme Trust more generally, and also discuss administrative processes relating to the Fellowships Scheme.

Please note that many departments will have their own internal deadlines and selection processes before applications are submitted to the Newton Trust, which you will need to check. Please also refer to the Leverhulme website for information about the Scheme and to confirm that you are eligible to apply.

Postdoctoral researchers have priority for this event, although late-stage PhD students are also welcome. Other staff involved in supporting Leverhulme applications are also very welcome. Please note that, although the Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships scheme is open to applicants from all disciplines, this briefing is only for potential applicants from the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

The event is free, but you will need to book your place in advance.  To register for the event, please click here (Raven login details needed), or click on the link at the right hand side of the page.
