A discussion with the playwright Steve Waters, whose recent play "The Contingency Plan" at the Bush Theatre earned rave reviews and was heralded as the first major theatrical work to directly address the issues of climate change. Steve will be joined in conversation by critic and journalist Robert Butler. There will be time for discussion and a wine reception following the event.
Steve Waters is a playwright whose recent plays include 'The Contingency Plan' (The Bush, 2009), 'Fast Labour' (West Yorkshire Playhouse/Hampstead Theatre, 2008), 'World Music' (Sheffield Crucible/Donmar Warehouse, 2003/4), all published by Nick Hern Books. He runs the M.Phil in Playwriting at the University of Birmingham.
Robert Butler writes about the arts and green issues for The Economist's quarterly magazine, Intelligent Life. He was the theatre critic for the Independent on Sunday, and now edits The Ashden Directory, a website about the environment and the performing arts, which has been online since 2000. He is also writer-in-residence at the Welsh national opera.
