Conference Support Funding 2021/22

Applications are invited for the 2021–22 conference competition at CRASSH. Further information (including a sample budget and sample programme) is available here.

Closing Date: Monday 25 January 2021 (at noon)

Application is via the CRASSH online application system. You will need to provide the following:

1.  The name, contact details and current post of the lead convenor.

2.  Title of conferencein the field 'Project Title'.

3.  Summary of conferencein the field 'Description' (copy/paste the instructions in the field to make things easier).This should include:

a) Details of co-convenors (if any): name, affiliation and contact details.

b) Proposed dates:

We are accepting applications for conferences to be held between September 2021 and June 2022.

We generally aim to hold conferences out of term and will be booking suitable slots in the Alison Richard Building. Please list a range of preferred dates in order, or tell us if dates are fixed. We cannot guarantee preferred dates will be offered.

We are able to host conferences during term time, however it can be more problematic to secure accommodation as students are in residence. Please also note that conferences in the Alison Richard Building during term can only be held on Fridays and Saturdays, meaning that catering costs will be higher. We suggest that you avoid degree and other ceremony dates, e.g. graduation weekend in June or alumni weekend in September.

c) Proposed venue: please indicate if you would like to use the CRASSH Facilities at the Alison Richard Building, 7 West Road, or would prefer an alternative venue.

d) Summary of the conference:please summarise the aims and objectives of the conference, and give any further details about the conference (including if you are planning to have an exhibition alongside the conference) and its importance. Please also outline why you think the conference should be supported by CRASSH.

4. Upload a draft conference programme listing key participants (PDF format):

Please list the key speakers, their subjects in relation to this conference and/or panel titles. This information can be provisional. Please indicate those already secured. 

5.  Upload a draft budget (PDF format):

Please provide your best estimate of costs. 

e) Art exhibition

If you intend to have an art exhibition alongside your conference you will need to include a brief summary in your conference competition application. You will also need to complete a seperate proposal as outlined on the Art at the Alison Richard Building website . You will need to include:

  • If you have artists(s) already chosen you need to send information about them in the proposal, including how much space they need and images of the artworks.
  • If you plan to do a call for art, you should do it at the same time as a call for papers. This can also go out via Art at the ARB channels. 
     

Please note that references are not required for the conference competition. You may receive an email from the application system that mentions referees - this can be disregarded.
